For a number of years I have observed herring gulls nesting

in Dunbar. On this site you can add a new nest site. If you can see an existing nest site and want to update it, contact me. I’ve update the form for 2025 observations

If you’re into short bit sized audio about birds, try Birdnote.

Who knew that gulls enjoy bathing in fresh water? The image above shows a linear group that is regularly enjoying a drink and bathe. And off they go, as I have disturbed them even though I am 300 yards away ..

You can disturb gulls at quite a distance

A Dunbar based project without public funding. Made with flotsam and jetsam. If interested in the ecology of gulls, feel free to reach out and help improve local knowledge. Nota Bene: do not disturb gulls esp. during nesting or while bringing up their young. All gulls are protected by law. Gulls can be aggressive if the young are threatened. Don't take risks enumerating nest sites and chicks. Don't feed or play with gulls.
